Introducing Squash Coach Will Southworth

Will started squash when he was 10 years old whilst attending Ardleigh Hall.   His playing interests eventually led him to consider going into coaching so that he could combine his love of squash whilst making it a professional career.

He is a Level 3 coach with 8 years of coaching experience now behind him.

It clear to all around him that he enjoys helping people get what ever they want out of the sport, whether its taking it seriously/competitively or just having a go and having fun.

Will bases himself at the Club on Tuesdays Wednesdays and Saturdays for racketball and the junior club program.

Since he now spends more time here at the Club he is starting to get quite busy with lessons, however he is keen to reach out to any members who are looking to improve their game or simply try the sport.  Will can be contacted on 07932 086928

Executive Member Ali Livingstone on Will:

’We are incredibly lucky to have a coach of Will’s experience and ability working at the club.  He has a wealth of coaching experience and also plays a very high standard. I can’t recommend him highly enough to anyone looking to improve their game, irrespective of their current standard.’

About Richard

Richard has been in tennis at a high level for 8 years, supported by the LTA and is on the LTA performance wheelchair programme.

The support enables Richard to get coaching, tournament support and other ancillary support.

He has 2 power chairs with a max speed 6mph.

Richard is in the quad division due his disability and uses power chair.  He manages chair movement and hitting with just his right hand.

Despite his challenges he has incredible timing and coordinates so much in a fraction of a second.

It’s not been easy for Richard but with a natural eye for the ball, his parents Celia and Brian looked for ways for Richard to hit a tennis ball at home. He went to his first wheelchair tennis camp at Nottingham.  This became the platform for Richard to further his tennis.

Determination, persistence, sense of humour.

A true inspiration to us all and demonstrates that with persistence there are NO limits!

Meet Club Squash Coach – Conor

Meet Club Squash Coach – Conor

I have played squash since the age of 8 and has been playing competitively for 10 years. With a passion for playing the game I naturally fell into teaching and I have been involved in club coaching for the past 4 years.

I joined Ipswich Sports Club 12 months ago and I just love the feel of the club and I have enjoyed getting to know the many members coming along to our squash programme.

I enjoy keeping healthy and my coaching has kept my love of squash going – this has now become my chosen career.
The rewarding part of my job is I get to see the improvements players make in whichever goals they are focusing on.

I am a Level 2 certified coach who is always keen to learn new things – I am currently taking my level 3 qualification which I hope to complete later this year.

I am also a keen footballer and enjoy music.

Whilst I am pleased to report I am very busy with all of my work at the club, I am keen to get as many people playing squash as possible. I am always available for a chat or a little advice on Friday’s during club night – since taking this over I am please to report a upturn in numbers and hopefully enjoyment for those attending.

General Manager Andy Yorke on Conor:
‘Conor is a pleasure to work with, he is extremely respectful, mild mannered and profession in everything he does. He embodies everything a club coach should be, a true credit to the team here at the club’.
