I am sure we are not alone in attempting to stave off increasing waist lines while conforming to Government Guidelines.

Its fair to say we as a family of three (four) if you count our dog Tetley, have found joy in striding out two or three times a week.
One of our routes takes us down and through the docks at Ipswich past Dance East & left over Stoke bridge, along Wherestead Road to the end roundabout where we turn for home at ski slope then back along, through the docks to the foot of Landseer Road & home 9km or 73 – 75 minutes.
Kath does all of the running, while Freya & I are pace setters.

Tetley is our four & half year old Hungarian Viszler, & Kath says all of the hills he is a great boost with his unwavering pace,which is a true God send.
I’d like to think we are an active family but these times we are in, pushes us to think outside the box , as far as Fitness of body & Mind goes.  Like so many people, following a jog, bike ride or walk we certainly feel refreshed invigorated and capable of dealing with life, especially given Freyas ‘home Schooling’ duties.

To be fair it’s been several weeks in existence and a routine and system is in place which works well.  The only issue I foresee is my ability to understand the three elements of “Transformation” Key Stage 2 & convey this to Freya, with a degree of confidence, fun, enthusiasm, & accuracy without my frustration levels peaking.

We have also created a mini Circuit around our patio, along with gym area for kick boxing, (A discipline Freya took up August last year), we all have skipping ropes, but the less said about that the better.

Message from the Chairman

Dear Club Members
 
Now that we are over a month into lockdown I thought I would take this opportunity to update you on how we are managing the Club through this difficult time.
 
We have carried out a full financial review of the Club’s accounts with a view to minimising the short term and long term impact of the forced closure due to the Coronavirus.  To this end I am pleased to report we are in discussions with our bank regarding a payment holiday for our loans.  We are also grateful to the Lawn Tennis Association and Suffolk Lawn Tennis Association for their support with their various loans and payments owed to them.  We have also taken steps to reduce our energy consumption and are carrying out regular meter readings to monitor this area.  Andy Yorke has worked hard to reduce our monthly expenditure as far as possible but we still incur costs each and every month which cannot be avoided.  We have applied for a £10K emergency fund grant from Sport England and if successful, this will help ease the pressure on the Club during this crisis.
 
We have some excellent volunteers helping us with Club security checks and maintaining the grounds and premises at Henley Road and Tuddenham Road.  In addition a few of our Club Studio Instructors (Vienna, Ivan, Didi and Caroline) have been running free online classes available to all members.  Details of these classes for next week can be found at the end of this message and please note all future dates are being advertised via our social media pages (Website News Page, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram).
 
Work behind the scenes continues with our organisational status, it is hoped we can bring this to a conclusion over the coming months.  Our Executive meets regularly via video conferencing and we are meeting online with our Club Council colleagues on 12 May 2020.
 
I must take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to those members who have made donations to the Club.  We really appreciated your support along with our Club sponsors that have stuck by us as well.  We do however need to ask our members to please continue to make donations where possible to help the Club through these unprecedented times.  Any donation, large or small will help.  We still have significant running costs to meet each month so every donation helps us to avoid running down our cash at bank at present.  As a reminder, to make a donation you can set up a payment via standing order or one-off payment as follows: Sort Code 30-94-55 and Account Number 04745168.  Please ensure that you put DONATION as the reference, followed by your surname and if possible your membership number eg. Finally, to all our members – thank you for your tolerance I know that the Sports Club is a big part of our lives and we all miss it greatly but for now keep safe and well and let’s hope that the lockdown eases shortly and we can update you all on possible plans to reopen when it is safe to do so.
