Strong performance
Ladies 1s had their home clash against Bury on a sunny Saturday. This was a big game as their previous meet was a tough pill to swallow with a bitter defeat. The girls were very much up for this game and were itching to steal the win and search for redemption.
The game started very well indeed with two early short corners and in the third minute, Sophie Sexton converted the second corner for Ipswich to take an early lead. Bury restart got them some way into Ipswich half but not for long; met with strong defence from Kat, Emma Logan and Ellie Scott. Distributions up the wide channels from Sexton and POTM Keisha H-B rewarded the forwards for their leads and gave Ipswich more chances.
Ipswich kept the pressure on Bury and had multiple corners chances, but unfortunately nothing came of those created. Some great efforts from Jas Vincent and Chloe Williams
Just before the half time whistle Sexton converted another corner and her goal to put Ipswich 2-0.
Second half and Ipswich kept running hard and defending well when Bury tried to attack. Ipswich worked well with the ball and continued to keep possession whilst travelling up the pitch. Using all the lines and key displays of strong attacks, Ipswich won more short corners. Still unable to put another goal into the net though. With only a few tense moments for GK Emerald Green, Bury were kept out.
Ipswich still threatened well and the third goal of the game was created from Kat, who found forward Georgia Harrold who left the defenders behind and selflessly passed for a first time shot from Taylor Ball and end the game.
A strong and powerful team performance from Ipswich who completely shut down Bury. The girls head to Broxbourne next to hopefully get three points instead of 1 this time. Who can they catch up with going into the final games of the season.
