SCCA Chess Club

Created in October 2023, ISC Chess Club joined the Suffolk County Chess Association (SCCA) for the 2024–25 season with one team in Division One, led by Dave Spence. We went on to win the division title on our debut season, and we are grateful to the ISC Board for their support throughout.

Since then, the club has continued to grow. As of September 2026, we have around 45 members and have welcomed Isaac Craft, Tom Jordan and Kian King to the club.

In our second season, 2024–25, we entered an additional team in Division Three, which went on to earn promotion to Division Two.

For the 2025–26 season, ISC entered teams into all SCCA events, including Divisions One, Two and Three, as well as the equivalent Rapidplay competitions. We also competed in the U1800 and U1650 Cups, the Norfolk & Suffolk Cup and the Handicap Rapidplay competition. Overall, we fielded 10 teams across the season.

Our regular club night takes place every Monday at 7:15pm, and you are welcome to come along and play. Newcomers are always welcome, whether you’re fairly new to chess or a seasoned player.

Guests can attend up to five sessions before joining ISC. After this, a Social Membership is all that is required to continue playing.

Looking ahead, we are also considering the possibility of starting a Junior Chess Club in the future.

We’d love to welcome you to SCCA and see you at one of our Monday sessions.
