TENNIS – SUMMER 2025 LEAGUE RESULTS

What a cracking season weather-wise!! For once, we can’t complain that matches were cancelled due to the British summer weather – in fact if anything, it’s almost – dare we say it – been too hot!!

ISC’s 3 Ladies teams have performed brilliantly, with Ladies 1 being crowned Champions of Division 1 for the 6th consecutive year!!  Against particularly stiff competition this year, they lost just one match all season – an amazing achievement for Captain Louise Woods and her squad of talented players.  Ladies 2 topped division 3 and were unbeaten, winning all 8 matches – another superb accomplishment for Captain Lilian Austin. Promotion is a very fitting end to her 17-year-long captaincy – well done, Lilian & team!  Ladies 3 performed solidly, culminating in a very close points battle and deservedly retain their place in division 3.

On the Men’s side, our 1st team had a steady season, finishing mid-table in division 1. We thank Captain Ryan Lambert for all his sterling work organising the players over the past few years, and we all wish him well in his new coaching role at Culford.  Men’s 2 tried their very best but were relegated from division 1 after struggling against very strong 1st teams – a valiant effort and hopefully they’ll bounce back up quickly.  In division 3 there were again 3 teams on equal points but after battling hard unfortunately Men’s 3 just missed out on set percentages so move down to division 4.

Mixed 1 enjoyed a successful season coming a worthy 2nd place in division 1.  Yet another super-close final points tally sees Mixed 2 losing out on the very closest of margins – just 1% of sets won making the difference. Mixed 3 also had a tough season which sees them moving down to division 5.

A vote of thanks as always to all Captains for their organisational skills and all players that have represented the club, as well as the League organisers. A very special mention goes to our Academy juniors who stepped up and gained valuable match experience at this level contributing to a highly successful season.  We look onwards and upwards to Winter & Floodlit Leagues – good luck to all those taking part.

SUFFOLK LTA INTER-CLUB DOUBLES COMPETITION

On Sunday 7th September 2 Ladies’ and 2 Men’s pairs headed to a warm but fairly blustery Felixstowe for the annual inter-club doubles competition. Academy players Harry & James played well on the grass but bowed out in the quarter-finals with Harry and James falling at the semi-final stage.  Both ISC Ladies teams were on fine form ending up in an all ISC final where youngsters Celeste & Jess came out on top defeating Maddy and Louise in 2 sets.  Well played Ladies, including squad member Rosanne who played in an earlier round.

A picture of the finalists is shown below.
